The operating principle of a
fully automatic cardboard baler is centered on using high-pressure compression to drastically reduce the volume of loose material, facilitating efficient handling and transport. The process is governed by a programmable logic controller (PLC) and can be broken down into three key stages:
First, Loading and Pre-compression: Cardboard is fed into a large hopper or charging chamber. Once a pre-set weight or photo-eye level is detected, the automated cycle begins. Pre-compression platen (a large metal plate) descends to densely pack the material into a uniform mat. This step is critical for creating a full, consistent bale in the main chamber.
Second, Main Compression: The pre-compressed mat is transferred into the main baling chamber. Here, the main ram, powered by a high-pressure
hydraulic system, exerts immense force (often hundreds of tons) to compact the cardboard into a tight, rectangular bale. This force expels air, maximizing density and structural integrity.
Finally, Ejection and Tying: Once the bale reaches its pre-set size and density, the ram holds pressure. Automatic wires or straps are then fed through channels and tied around the bale to secure it.
The rear door opens, and the ram pushes the finished bale out onto a conveyor or onto the floor, ready for shipment. The system then resets, awaiting the next cycle. This automated hydraulic compression is the fundamental principle that transforms loose waste into a valuable, transportable commodity.
